Salma Karina Hayat - Mentor, Entrepreneur, Advisor & Philanthropist
Over the past 25 years, Salma Karina Hayat has played a pivotal role in launching and managing a series of successful ventures spanning e-commerce, digital marketing, and lead generation for direct marketing campaigns. She has also made her mark in real estate development, focusing on multifamily residential properties designed to address the housing needs of rapidly growing urban populations.
Currently serving as the Transformation, Change, and Innovation Advisor at Kudos Technologies, Karina leverages AI, automation, and data analytics to solve business inefficiencies for SMEs. She leads a dedicated team in developing custom software solutions that accelerate sales, streamline processes, and enhance marketing strategies for businesses of all sizes.
Karina’s passion for community service began early. At the age of five,
while in Guatemala, she assisted her father in teaching literacy to adults in
an informal classroom setting. This formative experience fueled her commitment
to social impact and led to the co-founding of Canada’s first Muslim Food Bank
and the "100 Meals a Week" initiative, aimed at supporting vulnerable
individuals in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside (DTES).
Her commitment to social issues spans across family reunification, mental
health advocacy, interfaith dialogue, and homelessness prevention. As a former
Chairwoman of the BC Muslim Association’s Vancouver chapter, Karina worked to
promote community safety and cohesion. Her international humanitarian efforts
include providing support for Syrian refugee families, further highlighting her
dedication to positive social change.
In addition to her philanthropic work, Karina is an advocate for education
and mentorship, guiding young entrepreneurs toward success. She has long-term
aspirations to write a book, establish an orphanage, and create a homeless
shelter, further demonstrating her deep commitment to improving the welfare of
her community.
Amid her busy schedule, Karina prioritizes health and wellness. She
maintains a balanced diet, engages in regular physical activity, and emphasizes
mental resilience, believing these elements are key to achieving success. She
also instills these values in her family, encouraging her children to lead
active and healthy lifestyles from an early age.
A sought-after speaker, Karina regularly shares her insights at conferences,
contributing to the growth of fellow entrepreneurs. Her accomplishments have
earned her numerous awards, including WXN Canada’s Most Powerful Women,
CHATELAINE PROFIT W100 Canada’s Top Female Entrepreneurs, and recognition as an
Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Pacific Finalist. In 2022, Karina
was honored with the prestigious Women of Impact award from the Government of
